On November 18th, Dr. Anusha Withana, Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, delivered an insightful talk on In-Situ Design and Fabrication of Personalized Interfaces at the November Seminar, hosted by Andrea Bianchi. Attendees enjoyed pizza before diving into the engaging session.
In his presentation, Dr. Withana explored how personalized technology can transform fields like disability management, physical rehabilitation, and well-being. He discussed the challenges of low user adherence to these technologies, often caused by a poor fit between the user’s needs and the system’s capabilities. Dr. Withana highlighted the importance of co-designing with users and using computational fabrication methods to create interfaces tailored to individual needs and contexts, offering a more dynamic and effective solution than traditional, one-size-fits-all approaches.
A big thank you to Dr. Withana for his thought-provoking talk, and to everyone who joined us for this successful event!
